The Shantalla Residents Association is proud to announce the launch of the first Shantalla Festival Weekend, incorporating the traditional five-a-side tournament held annually in the Sliding Rock Park.

The Shantalla Festival Weekend will be held May 26 to May 28 and will include local musicians and history, barbeques, a five-a-side-tournament, and children’s entertainment.

Local musicians booked for the weekend includes Greg Cotter, Liz Coleman, Tony Kelly, Bernard McNamara, Alfie and Gary Horneybrook, Gerry Staunton, and many more.

Speaking at the launch, Shantalla Residents Association chairperson Oliver Burke said: “We are looking forward to a great weekend where we can meet our neighbours, make the most of the fantastic Sliding Rock park, and enjoy the best entertainment Shantalla has to offer. We hope that our community and friends of our community will have a great weekend.”

The busiest day of the weekend will be Saturday with the five-a-side tournament taking place during the day at the Sliding Rock park, Galway Community Circus providing children’s entertainment, and the prizegiving taking place in the Sliding Rock Bar in the evening.

Sunday will see a talk by local historian William Henry and the premiere screening of a documentary about local resident Vincent Forde.

All funds raised will go towards supporting the local community employment scheme and the activities of the residents association.
