Tool thieves target Transits

Thieves who raided two Ford Transit vans in the city last week made away with two separate hauls of power tools.

Between 9am and 12pm on March 31, tools were taken from a white Ford Transit van while it was parked on the Seamus Quirke road, Galway. The tools which were stolen include two Festool Hoovers, blue Makita planer, two yellow De Walt routers, and toolboxes and a blue Bosch Jigsaw.

A short time later, between 12pm and 5pm a white Ford Transit van was broken into while it was parked at Renmore Avenue, Renmore. The following tools were stolen: a yellow De Walt cordless screw gun, a Hilti laser beam, a yellow De Walt laser beam, a yellow De Walt angle grinder, a blue Makita saw, a yellow De Walt impact driver and a Skil saw. Oughterard to Bunakill overlay works concerns – Ó Cuív

Fianna Fáil TD for Galway West Éamon Ó Cuív is seeking assurances from Galway County Council and Transport Infrastructure Ireland that funding will be provided for essential overlay works on the Oughterard to Bunakill (3/4 of the way to Maam Cross ) section of the N59 this year.

Deputy Ó Cuív wants to ensure that the resurfacing works are completed before the end of 2017.“The N59 is the main route from Connemara into Galway city and further afield. Upgrade works on various parts of the road have been in the pipeline for some time and I am seeking confirmation from Galway County Council and Transport Infrastructure Ireland to ensure that resurfacing on the stretch between Oughterard and Bunakill is carried out before the end of the year”, explained Deputy Ó Cuív.
