Galway’s Cheltenham preview night at The Arches Hotel

Cheltenham 2017 is just around the corner and Galway punters will be treated to the hottest tips and expert analysis for this year’s festival straight at The Arches Hotel preview night.

The event will take place on Thursday March 9 at 8pm with well-known racing aficionado, Kevin O’Dwyer of Galway Bay FM, introducing a lively debate with a panel of experts from the racing world.

Guests include Liam Nash, the well known racing correspondent from RTE Radio, and John McIntyre, Connacht Tribune sports editor, with others to be confirmed. The evening will also feature a live call with jockey/trainer Kate Harrington. It will also feature George Mc Donagh from Galway Bay FM and Andrew Mc Namara well known jockey and RTE Racing correspondent

This year’s event follows the successful Galway Races preview night, at which punters were tipped some big-priced winners.

“We’re hoping to send the punters away with some serious ammunition for the Cheltenham Festival. This is the only Cheltenham Preview Night taking place in Co Galway this year and there are a limited number of tickets available, so book early to avoid disappointment,” says a spokesperson.

Tickets cost €20 and include a free pint and a free €5 matched bet from Paddy Power Bookmakers. All proceeds on the night go to Claregalway Celtic FC for the purchase and development of playing grounds in Claregalway.

Tickets are available to purchase on Eventbrite on, or else by calling The Arches Hotel 091-739000.
