Experience the very latest optical and hearing technology at Specsavers Galway stores

With the very latest in optical and hearing technology, the team of expert staff at Specsavers Galway stores provide customers with superior professional service in an affordable environment. Store director Noel Meehan and his team of highly trained healthcare professionals place a strong emphasis on continued professional and technological development, to ensure that customers receive the best possible care and advice for all their optical and hearing needs.

Technological innovation comes first at Specsavers Galway stores, as both units offer free digital retinal photography as part of regular eye tests which allows for detection and monitoring of many conditions, including glaucoma, diabetes, high blood pressure and, in extreme cases, tumours. The two stores also provide Digital Precision Eyecare, a cutting edge way of selecting and fitting customers’ frames, whereby a photo is taken of the customer wearing glasses following his/her eye examination on a tablet device using imaging software. This in turn captures a range of essential dispensing measurements, which are unique to the customer and his/her chosen glasses.

The stores also utilise OCT, optical coherence tomography, which creates a 3D picture beneath the surface of the regular retinal image, allowing the optician to easily diagnose and refer customers to a specialist for further treatment, should this be required.

In addition to being experts in eye health, both stores also specialise in hearing. Specsavers audiologist, Liz Ryan, manages Eyre Square and Headford Road’s on-site hearing centres, with screenings available seven days a week in Eyre Square and available Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Headford Road. The hearing centres provide free, three-minute hearing screenings, with no need to book a full appointment and no obligation to buy. The screener lets customers know whether they would benefit from having a full hearing test, which takes about one hour.

Specsavers strives to provide its customers with the most technologically advanced services and products on the market, with both Galway stores now stocking the world’s first rechargeable hearing aids. The Signia Cellion primax and Phonak Audeo Belong are the latest innovations in hearing aid technology and users will no longer have to worry about replacing batteries every few days. With a battery life of 24 hours between charges, both models offer hearing aid wearers a complete day of clear hearing before a very straightforward contactless recharging process.

Store director at Specsavers Galway stores, Noel Meehan, said: "At Specsavers Galway we are extremely passionate about delivering the most advanced technology available for optical and hearing services. Technology is continuously evolving and both our teams at Eyre Square and Headford Road are highly trained healthcare professionals, who place a strong emphasis on ongoing professional development, to ensure that customers receive the best possible care and advice."
