Christmas carols at the Augustinian

GAUDETE IS the Latin word for rejoice, the name of one of the greatest Christmas choral songs, and the title for the Marine Institute Singers upcoming Christmas carols and seasonal songs concert.

The concert takes place in the Augustinian Church on Sunday December 18 at 8pm and funds raised at the show will be donated to Hand in Hand, a national children’s cancer support service providing practical home support to families throughout Ireland who have a child diagnosed with cancer.

The Marine Institute Singers, winners of Ireland’s National Workplace Choir of the Year, are directed by Carmel Dooley. They will be joined by the Oranmore Parish Children’s Choir, conducted by Helen Hancock and Judy Grealish, along with special guest, mezzo soprano Anna-Louise Costello.

The programme incudes ‘O Holy Night’, ‘The Snowman’, ‘A Child is Born’, Mozart’s ‘Laudate Dominum’ and Handel’s ‘O Thou That Tellest’.

Tickets are €10/€30 (family ), and are available on the door and from the Marine Institute, Rinville, Oranmore (091 - 387483 ).
