John Bishop - Winging It all the way to Galway

Liverpool comic to play Seapoint as part of autumn 2017 Irish tour

JOHN BISHOP, Liverpool's favourite son and one of the best loved comedians in the business, will play two nights in Galway as part of his Winging It Around Ireland tour which takes place throughout September 2017.

The tour takes in Seapoint, Salthill, on Wednesday September 27 and Thursday 28, as well as Mayo, Cork, Clare, Limerick and Leitrim. John says it is a "chance to see parts of Ireland I have never seen before". It will also mark his return to the live stage.

"When I start this new tour, it will be three years since my last live show Supersonic, which is the longest break I've ever had," the Liverpudlian says. "I'm very much looking forward to getting back on the road - there really is nothing like performing stand-up in front of a live audience. The new show is called Winging It, and in some respects having come to comedy relatively late, it sometimes feels like that’s what I'm doing in life! But I'm enjoying every minute of it."

Bishop may have "started late" but his rise has ben meteoric. Within three years of his first comedy gig, he was playing to sold out arena audiences across Britain and released the fastest selling stand-up DVD in UK history. His Supersonic tour was watched by more than 500,000 people and received critical acclaim; Rollercoaster (2012 ) and Sunshine (2011 ) were also successful, while Elvis Has Left The Building (2010 ) saw him nominated for an Edinburgh Comedy Award.

His TV credits include John Bishop’s Australia (BBC1 ), John Bishop’s Britain (BBC1 ), John Bishop’s Only Joking (Sky1 ), The John Bishop Show (BBC1 ), and John Bishop’s Gorilla Adventure (ITV1 ), and more recently, John Bishop: In Conversation With… (W Channel ). He is currently filming a new ITV drama, Fearless. Written by Homeland writer Patrick Harbinson and produced by Mammoth Screen (Poldark, Victoria ), the six part series will be broadcast next year.
