Aideen Barry’s adventures in space

IN 2007 the Galway based artist Aideen Barry visited NASA, she was able to see the new technologies it is developing, and experience zero-gravity.

The result of that trip to Florida is a new exhibition, Hypothetical Evolutions Of [An] Other, which opens at the Galway Arts Centre on Thursday March 5 at 6pm

Barry was able to go to NASA after recieving a Project: New Work Award from the Arts Council. Her trip was documented by Chris Hurley from the Cork Film Centre.

Barry’s works are a response to her experiences at the Kennedy Space Centre through photography, animation, drawing, embroidery, film, and sculpture. The exhibition also explores such themes as the current rate of technological advance, post-Celtic Tiger Ireland, and exposure to the excessive use of chemicals.

Hypothetical Evolutions Of [An] Other runs until April 9.
