MESSIAH J & The Expert are on a roll at the moment. Their second album From The Word Go has been nominated for a Choice and Meteor award and they are about to undertake an Irish tour.
Messiah J & The Expert have achieved the seemingly impossible - to be credible Irish hip hoppers! They have just released a new single ‘Turn The Magic On’ while From The Word Go has had critics salivating.
“Call it a classic? I think I will,” said Hot Press. “Light years ahead of the pack,” according to the Sunday Business Post. “Torso, shoulders and head above anyone else,” declared the Sunday Tribune.
Musically, the pair draw from funk, psychedelic, indie, electronic, reggae, and soul. Lyrically, they muse on everyday concerns. They have also supported Public Enemy, The Streets, Ghostface Killah, Aesop Rock, and Xzibit.
Messiah J & The Expert play the Róisín Dubh on Friday March 6 at 9pm. Tickets are €10 and are available from the Róisín Dubh and Zhivago. Entry is free for Róisín Dubh members.
