TD Paul Murphy to speak in Galway on right to protest

Paul Murphy, the outspoken and controversial Anti Austerity Alliance TD, is coming to Galway next week to address a public rally on the issue of democratic rights and the right to protest.

Teh talk, which takes place on Tuesday November 8 at 8pm, upstairs in Richardson’s bar, Eyre Square, comes in the aftermath of a recent judgment which found a 17-year-old school student guilty of false imprisonment of the former tánaiste Joan Burton, at a protest in Jobstown, in 2014. Dep Murphy is due in court early next year to face the same charges for his role in that protest.

Dep Murphy is a leading figure in the anti water charges movement and a strong opponent to CETA and TTIP neo-liberal trade agreements. He will be joined at the Galway meeting by Kay Keane, a Jobstown activist, and members of the Galway AAA. All are welcome to attend.
