Saint Sister bring the ‘atmosfolk' to Seven

"THEIR MUSIC is folk, pastoral, and dreamy with its pop eyes wide open." This is how Nialler9 has described Saint Sister, the 'atmosfolk' duo of Morgan MacIntyre and Gemma Doherty, who play Galway next week.

The duo, whose music draws from on 1960s folk, electronic pop, and early Celtic harp traditions, and soulful vocal harmonies, to create what has become known as ‘atmosfolk', will play The Loft, Seven, Bridge Street, on Wednesday November 9 at 9pm.

Since the release of their debut EP Madrid on Trout Records in November 2015, Saint Sister have enjoyed aiplay on RTE1, TXFM, BBC Radio 1, and ABC, as well as much critical acclaim. Clashmusic.com called them "bewitching", The Irish Times said of them, "Theirs is a strong, resonant, magnetic sound, with a clear folk influence in the wash, but one where the spooky, full-bodied songs they’re digging out also come with a lot of melodic gumption."

As well as opening for Arcade Fire’s Will Butler, they have also played SXSW, Electric Picnic, Longitude, Indiependence, and Body & Soul.

Support is from 19-year-old singer-songwriter Rosie Carney, originally from Hampshire but now based in Donegal. Tickets are €10 from www.sevenbridgestreet.ie and www.ticketmaster.ie
