Will Softly's Rock Gods DJ night

World music DJ embraces his hard rock roots in new clubnight

WILL SOFTLY is well known throughout Galway as a leading World Music DJ, but there is another side to the man, a side with a passion for guitars cranked up to a Nigel Tufnel approved 11, and enough riffs to keep headbangers and air guitarists in action.

Will is going back to his roots with his new Rock Gods clubnight in Sally Longs Bar, Abbeygate Street, with the music being played through a Funktion One Soundsystem.

"My first gig ever was at the Victoria Apollo in 1978 at 14 years of age to see the original line-up of AC/DC on the Highway To Hell tour," he says. "An astonishing, life changing, moment in my life, the energy of the band was electric! I went to Monsters of Rock many times and being a Brighton Boy attended so many gigs at The Dome and Brighton Centre; including Ozzy Osborne, Rainbow, The Who, Queen, Black Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio, Gillan, Motörhead, and Iron Maiden."

Rock Gods takes place on Friday November 5 from 9pm. The next Rock Gods will be Wednesday Decebmer 23. Admission is free.
