Canney calls for immediate action on Leader Programme

Galway East is “losing out” because of a delay in appointing a company to deliver the Leader Programme for east and north Galway, according to local TD and Minister of State, Seán Canney.

Minister Canney has called on the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural, and Gaeltacht Affairs Heather Humphreys to “immediately rectify” this situation. He said there are “many communities that have projects ready to get under way but cannot do so due to the non-availability of a mechanism to apply for funding”.

The Galway East TD has spoken to the Minister and her officials on the issue and said his concerns were “taken on board about the total absence of an organisation to deliver the Leader programme in east Galway”.
