The Southern Fold to play Monroe's Live

Kilkenny alternative-folk/country band

THEY CITE Hank Williams and Kurt Cobain as their inspirations, and they seek to communicate messages of truth and honesty through harmony singing and the craft of songwriting in its simplest, purist, form.

They are alternative-folk/country band The Southern Fold, who play Monroe’s Live on Friday October 14 at 8.30pm. The project was begun by Kilkenny native Emlyn Holden in 2014. With Laura Hand joining as permanent co-lead vocalist in 2015 and the duo settled down to work on a batch of new songs and perform gigs in Kilkenny and Dublin.

Their debut EP, A True Ascension from the Wayward Path, came out in April, and saw Holden and Hand joined by Frieda Freytag (Dave Couse badn ) on cello/piano, Joe Maher (The Mariannes ) on guitar, and Rob Campbell on cello/bass brought to broaden the sound and introduce more dynamics to the songs.

Tickets are €8 via www.monroes.ie
