GMIT launches new part-time inside sales conversion course using local experts

GMIT is offering a new part-time inside sales conversion course at its Galway campus from October.

The eight week course will be delivered by highly experienced employees from leading inside sales companies in Galway such as newly arrived companies Siteminder and MathsWorks, and existing companies Iswitch, Smartbear, and Titan HQ.

The course will provide a grounding on the inside sales process and methodology and enable participants to develop key skills to position themselves for new job opportunities in the growing inside sales sector.

The course is primarily practical and uses role-play extensively. The emphasis throughout is on learning by doing, to acquire skills that have been identified as characteristic of a good inside sales person. These skills are problem solving and team orientation, developing a customer-first attitude, results-driven personality, interpersonal skills, listening skills, written and verbal communication skills, building relationships, presentation skills, and emotional intelligence.

Eamon Walsh, head of department at GMIT’s School of Business, said: “An inside sales representative is a salesperson who works inside the company office and doesn’t visit customers in person. In technology sales, where a lot can be done over the phone and through screen sharing software, inside sales reps can usually close business over the phone. They cultivate relationships with customers resulting in sales, rather than ‘cold-calling’ them.

“People well suited to this role are typically already in customer-facing roles such as retail sales or account management.”

The course is delivered by highly experienced people from Ipswitch, Smartbear, and Titan HQ plus a guest speaker from CPL recruitment.

The course will be run two evenings per week for eight weeks, commencing Tuesday October 4, costing €245. Applications for the course can be made directly to GMIT Lifelong Learning Centre on 091 742145 or by downloading an application form from the Lifelong Learning Galway section of www.gmit.ie
