Gallop the Galway Racecourse with Bressie charity

Voice of Ireland judge Niall 'Bressie' Breslin will be in Galway this Saturday raising money for charity.

The Blizzards' frontman will be taking part in a 5km run at the Galway Racecourse, where he will be joined by hundreds of Galwegians who have already signed up for the event. VHI's A Lust for Life campaign has been hosting charity runs across Ireland, with proceeds going towards mental health charity Aware.

"We kicked off this year with a VHI A Lust for Life run in the Phoenix Park in Dublin," said Bressie. "It was great to see so many people turn out and embody our message, which is to put your mental health on the map. I have seen first-hand what running and exercise can do for the mind, and I’m excited to bring the run to Galway for the first time."

The deadline for registration is midnight tonight, September 1, and the event will give runners the unique experience of looking at the racecourse from a different perspective. The VHI A Lust for Life run series was set up in 2015, with the aim of bringing people together through exercise to create awareness around mental health.

Entry to the event is €18, and includes chip timing, a technical T-shirt, and a goodie bag. To celebrate its inaugural year in Galway, a special 2 for 1 offer has been announced for runners to take to the field, and complete the 5km run with a friend at no extra cost.
