Michelin Star chef to open fifth Galway Food Festival

Ross Lewis, the Michelin Star chef from the Chapter One Restaurant, Dublin, will open the fifth annual Galway Food Festival, which this year will celebrate ‘100 years of Irish Food’, across the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

Lewis will open the festival on Thursday March 24 at 6pm at the Global Food Village at the Spanish Arch. The following day, Good Friday, Lewis will deliver a food demonstration, Tale from an Irish Food Story, at 11am, while at 12 noon he will take part in a panel discussion, in the Mick Lally Theatre, on the past, present and future of Irish food. Fellow panelists will be Adare restauranteur, Wade Murphy; Ranelagh’s Gavin McDonagh of Brioche; Galway’s Kitchen Cafe’s Michelle Kavanagh; and Kai Restaurant owner Jess Murphy. It will be chaired by Galway Food Festival chair, JP McMahon.

Also coming to Galway for the festival is Roz Purcell, author of Natural Born Feeder. She will be inviting guests to join her for dinner at Brasserie on the Corner on Good Friday. Roz has inspired the Brasserie’s Chef Joe Flaherty with a five course tasting menu straight from her cookbook.

The festival, which runs until Monday March 28, will have more than 100 food related events, including food demonstrations, open air artisan food markets, inspiring talks, food tours, and coastal foraging.
