Jamie Sheridan Stack solo exhibition

California-Galway artist to hold debut show in Galway City Library

FLOATING HEADS, winged beings, light and dark, ecstasy and anxiety, come together in Out Of The Head, an exhibition of paintings by Jamie Sheridan Stack, currently running in the Galway City Library.

Jamie was born to Irish parents in California in 1988. In 2011 he graduated with a BA Hons from the Crawford Art College in Cork. Out Of The Head is his first solo show. His influences are Louis le Brocquy, Keith Haring, and Jean–Michel Basquiat. He has carried out mural commissions in Kerry, Clare, and Galway and displayed his work at Electric Picnic and Body & Soul.

"A recurring theme in my paintings and drawings are these figures that have been following me for a long time," says the artist, "often just floating heads, sometimes winged beings, that I have painted and drawn compulsively on the surfaces around me since my early teenage years. Light and dark, angels and demons, ecstasy and anxiety. The extremes intrigue me because they define the limits of experience. They create the scale for everything else to exist between."

Out Of The Head runs until Monday February 29.
