Searches continue for missing student Michael Bugler

Searches are continuing around Galway city for missing student Michael Bugler. The Ennis native, who is a studying law at NUI Galway, has been missing since the early hours of last Friday morning. The 20 year old was last seen walking near his home in The Claddagh at 1am after he left the Quay’s Bar. CCTV footage tracks him as far as passing the Claddagh Church as he appears to be on his way home to Fairhill Road.

Mr Bugler is described as being 5’9” in height, of thin build with short brown hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a distinctive royal blue Adidas hoodie on the night he disappeared, with a large Addidas sign on the back.

Large numbers of people have been searching for Michael since Saturday when the alarm was raised by his family. The story has been widely circulated on social media and people are being continuously urged to jog their memory in case they may have encountered the student in the Quay Street/ Spanish Arch Claddagh area on Thursday night.

A spokesperson from Mill Street Garda Station, where the search is being co-ordinated on a daily basis, said searches are concentrating around the city’s waterways. The garda sub aqua unit and coastguard search teams are also on standby and members of the civil defence have been taking part in the search. The gardai are also still in the process of trawling through CCTV footage from businesses in the area where Michael went missing.
