Scoil Mhuire, Oranmore, presented with prestigious Digital Schools of Distinction Award

The Digital Schools of Distinction is a flagship programme which aims to promote, recognise, and encourage excellence in the use of technology in primary schools.

Schools that successfully complete the three step programme receive a nationally recognised Digital School of Distinction Award, accredited by the Department of Education. Digital Schools of Distinction also receive free hardware and software and ongoing practical support and resources as part of the community of digital schools in Ireland.

The Digital Schools Award recognises excellence in the school’s approach to the integration of ICT in learning and teaching. The award also recognises the use of ICT through good practice, expertise and innovation. Throughout the Digital schools of Distinction process, the students of Scoil Mhuire developed positive attitudes towards information and communications technology (ICT ) and acquired the ability to use ICT effectively.

The award was presented to the school by past pupil, Fine Gael Senator Hildergarde Naughton. She paid tribute to the ongoing work at her alma mater. “As we look to the future and the skills that will be required, schools like Scoil Mhuire will have given their students a great head start in life. The pupils and staff are to be congratulated on their great achievement.”
