ELEANOR SHANLEY has a new album, Forever Young, named after the great Bob Dylan song; she is about to start a tour of Ireland; and she recently moved to Galway, making the county her home.
Galway will be included on that tour when Eleanor plays An Taibhdhearc Theatre, Middle Street, on Saturday November 7 at 8pm, to perform songs from the new album and across her distinguished career.
Forever Young also includes the recent single, Thom Moore's 'Gorgeous And Bright', and features Paul Kelly (mandolin, fiddle ), Eamonn De Barra (keys, whistle ), Martin Brunsden (double bass ), Jim Higgins (drums ), and Frankie Lane (Dobro, backing vocals ). It was recorded with Donogh Hennessy in Dingle. Since the 1990s, Eleanor has been a member at times of De Dannan and has worked with Mike Hanrahan (Stocktons Wing ) and Breandan Begley. This year she won The Danish Folk Music Award - only the second Irish artist to receive this honour since its inception 20 years ago.
