Practical skills for stress reduction

Due to popular demand, the Galway Training Centre is running a number of practical skills courses for stress reduction in the coming months. These courses will be run at two different locations, the Galway Technology Centre, Mervue, and also in Naduir, Furbo.

This course is designed to give you a better understanding of the harmful long-term effects of stress on your mental and physical health. Stress is individual and often defined as a mismatch between the demands placed on us and the way we cope with these demands. Stress is an unavoidable consequence of life, there are some stresses that are outside our control and others that we can prevent or influence. The trick is in learning how to distinguish between the two.

During this course you will learn practical techniques to help deal with stress in a more healthy way. You will learn to develop self-awareness of your own individual stress, coping skills, and relaxation skills.

Ciara McGriskin BA will be facilitating these courses. She has more than 15 years' training experience with the Galway Training Centre and is a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist. Visit www.seolcounsellinggalway.com for more information.

Courses will run one evening a week for six weeks, costing €90. October evening courses are commencing Monday October 12 at 7pm in Naduir, and Tuesday October 20 at 6.30pm in Mervue. Day courses are held on Saturdays from 10am to 5pm and cost €70.  The next Saturday course will be held in Mervue on October 31.
