Man blown away by waitresses honesty at Galway cafe

Staff at one Galway cafe certainly made one man's day yesterday. Two observant waitresses at An Pota Caife on Shop Street recognised the man who had accidentally left his entire disability allowance in the cafe three months ago and returned the money to the flabbergasted customer.

The man had not returned to look for the money at the time, as he was unsure where he had lost it. However when he entered the premises yesterday, waitresses Teresa Lee and Paula Bollinska immediately recognised him and informed the shocked man they still had his money in safekeeping. Speaking to the Galway Advertiser, Teresa Lee outlined what happened. "We had the money in our safe for all those months because we knew a customer had left it behind. We checked the cameras but did not know who the man was as he's not a regular. However when he came in yesterday, we knew immediately it was him as we recognised him from looking back at the camera. What also sparked our memory was he had his money in a little plastic bag similar to the one that had been left behind. He also asked for a cone which he had done the last time also!''

Ms Lee said the male customer was completely stunned that staff had kept his money all this time. "Oh he was totally shocked, firstly that we recognised him and also he could not believe we still had the money. He was delighted to get the money back because there was a nice bit in it. He was very, very, thankful. I think it's safe to say we have definitely won him over as a customer for life."
