Familiar Claddagh ring at latest Colleran auction

It was a case of quality not quantity last week when Don Colleran auctioned properties in some of Galway's most sought after and desirable locations.

The first property to be offered to the packed auction room was No 96 Ocean Wave, a two bedroom ground floor apartment described by Don Colleran as something special, because of its location just off the Salthill Promenade and its south facing sun filled back garden, something seldom found in apartments. Interest in this property was very strong and bidding opened at the AMV of €185,000, and with five separate bidders the price climbed very quickly before Don Colleran dropped his gavel at €220,000 to a solicitor who was buying the property on behalf of a client.

Next to sell was No 124 Dangan Heights, a very spacious five bedroom detached family home opposite NUIG sports campus.  Again there was very strong interest in this property as quality detached homes are in big demand across the city at the moment. Bidding opened at the AMV of €300,000 and, with three bidders setting their sights on this home, it quickly rose to €400,000. It became very tense when two bidders placed 22 additional bids on the property before the first bidder became the last and Don Colleran dropped his gavel at €425,000 to a round of applause from the full auction room.

Next to sell was No 54 Fr Burke Road, The Claddagh. Described by the auctioneer as a rare opportunity to purchase a house on one of the largest sites in The Claddagh, the house was sold to an overseas bidder. The interest in The Claddagh is now truly international as the last three properties sold by Don Colleran in this area have included buyers from as far away as the United States and Dubai.

In closing the auction Don Colleran appealed to anyone thinking of selling to contact him immediately as he is offering free property valuations for anyone looking to include their property in his next auction.
