Amazing Apples to perform 'secret gig' @ The Loft

Jimmy Moran, formerly of Rhythm Scheme, is new guitarist and bassist

THE AMAZING Apples, one of Galway's leading and most popular bands, will play a 'surprise gig' on Friday July 31 in The Loft at Seven, Bridge Street, ahead of their upcoming slot at the main stage of the Indiependence Festival in Mitchelstown.

The band will play a short set from 10.30pm, ahead of the Cork band, UV5. The show will also mark the live debut of Jimmy Moran, formerly of Rhythm Scheme, as the Apples new guitarist and bassist, taking over from Anthony Ryan, a founding member of the band. This is the first lineup change for the band since they began in 2008, and they are eager to showcase their new set up in their hometown. The band recently released their debut album, A Little Sense, produced by Joe Chester (The Coronas, Ryan Sheridan, Hermitage Green ). The album went straight to No 3 in the Irish Independent Charts, and was 27 in the Official Irish Charts.

The Apples will also play Electric Picnic on September 5, and before that on August 22, the Sugarbeat Festival in Tuam. Admission to The Loft gig is free.
