The Young Folk // The Lost Brothers to play Róisín Dubh

Galway International Arts Festival concert from Irish and Liverpudlian folk-rock acts

THEY HAVE been called “serious challengers for the area populated by the likes of Fleet Foxes, Mumford and Sons, and The Low Anthem" by Hotpress and “one of the most promising young bands to come out of Ireland in several decades,” according to Maverick.

The Young Folk - Anthony Furey (guitar/vocals ), Tony McLaughlin (bass/mandolin/vocals ), Paul Butler (keyboards/vocals ), Alex Borwick (trombone/mandolin/banjo/guitar ), and Patrick Hopkins (drums/vocals ) - play the Róisín Dubh tomorrow [Tuesday July 14] at 8pm as part of the Galway International Arts Festival.

The band, who count Uachtaráin na hÉireann Michael D Higgins among their fans, will play songs from their debut album, The Little Battle. They have played Electric Picnic, The Cambridge Folk Festival, and SXSW; and opened for Midlake and Imelda May.

.

Support is from The Lost Brothers - Liverpool-Irish duo Mark McCausland and Oisin Leech - of whom Willy Vlautin, leader of country-rock band The Richmond Fontaine, said the following: “Once in a while you hear voices that stop you in your tracks. The Lost Brothers are the real deal. They have the most beautiful harmonies around and...they have the songs to back it up.”
