Brendan Shine to play Town Hall

Dermot O'Leary approved singer in concert

BRENDAN SHINE, the man behind songs like 'I'm a Savage for Bacon and Cabbage' and 'Do Want Your Auld Lobby Washed Down?', not merely a hit, but a phenomenon in the Ireland of 1979, is coming to Galway.

Brendan, who was recently trending on social media thanks to X Factor presenter Dermot O'Leary, will play the Town Hall Theatre on Sunday June 21 at 8pm, as part of his current tour celebrating 50 years in the music business.

Dermot O'Leary's new memoir is based around songs he regards as the soundtrack to his life and number one on the list is Shine's 'Catch Me If You Can'. O'Leary was presented with a special CD of Brendan’s song on The Late Late Show which led to the singer trending on social media.

It is all part of a successful career that has seen the Athlone man play Carnegie Hall and Royal Albert Hall, release 26 albums, and have more hit songs in Ireland than anyone else, including Elvis Presley, according to Larry Gogan. Shine favourites include O’Brien Has No Place To Go’, ‘Where The Three Counties Meet’, ‘Abbeyshrule’, ‘All My Roads Lead Back To You’, and ‘How Much Time’, not to mention 1991's audacious rap song 'Rinka'.

Tickets are available from the Town Hall on 091 - 569777 or www.tht.ie
