The Berlin Philharmonic - live via The Eye

THE BERLIN Philharmonic, declared “the world’s greatest symphony orchestra” by The Guardian, will be in concert from the German capital this Sunday.

The concert is being broadcast live from the Berliner Philharmonie to The Eye Cinema, Wellpark, at 6.30pm, with conductor Mariss Jansons and soloist Frank Peter Zimmerman.

The orchestra will perform ‘Daphnis et Chloé’, the second suite from Ravel’s Symphonie choréographique”, described by Igor Stravinsky as “one of the most beautiful products of all French music”; Shostakovich’s emotionally charged Second Violin Concerto; and Bartók’s Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta, parts of which were used to great effect in Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining.
