NUI Galway courses shortlisted for postgraduate awards

Two NUI Galway postgraduate courses have been shortlisted for the national Postgraduate Course of the Year Awards 2015.

The Higher Diploma in Software Design & Development (Industry Stream ) is shortlisted in two categories: Postgraduate Course of the Year in Engineering Award and also in the Postgraduate Course of the Year in IT Award, while the MSc (Biotechnology ) programme is shortlisted in the Postgraduate Course of the Year in Science category.

The annual awards recognise excellence among Irish postgraduate course providers with the winning courses judged on the success of the course, including employability of graduates, recognition of the course’s quality or ranking by external bodies, research record of academic staff, and providing a good experience for students. Judges also take feedback from students into consideration when selecting a winner.

Valerie Leahy, postgraduate recruitment officer at NUI Galway, says it is great that the calibre of its postgraduate courses is being acknowledged.

"The courses in question are accepting applications now and those interested can apply online via the Postgraduate Applications Centre at www.pac.ie/nuigalway This year we’re also offering generous full-time taught masters scholarships for first-class students."

The award winners will be announced on April 30 at a reception in the Mansion House in Dublin.
