Galway Simon Community receives funding boost from ESB Electric Aid

Galway Simon Community has been awarded the sum of €11,125 from ESB Electric Aid to help towards part-funding a service to assess client engagement in activities and goal-setting.

Simon recognises that how an individual spends their day is an integral part of their journey through and out of homelessness. In response to this ,it has committed to developing a new service in 2015 which will offer support to individuals to assess their current level of engagement in activities and to set goals to make changes in this area of an individual’s life.

The proposed service aims to harness opportunities around meaningful use of time activities, training, education and employment for and with individual clients who are supported by the Galway Simon Community. This will be carried out in a coordinated, realistic and goal orientated manner contributing to an increased quality of life for men and women experiencing homelessness.

This money will make a significant contribution towards the re-development of an existing space within one of Galway Simon’s existing housing services to turn it into a workshop suitable for this purpose.

Galway Simon Community provides food, accommodation and support services to those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Galway. If you would like to support the work of Galway Simon Community, you can donate online at www.galwaysimon.ie or contact Kerry in the office on 091381828.
