Renmore gynmasts head to world champs

Three gymnasts from Renmore Gymnastics Club have qualified to represent Ireland at the world tumbling championships this month.

Galway’s Dean Murray (15 ), Cratloe’s Hugo Kinahan (12 ) and Raheen’s Darragh Moane (15 ) are the only three tumbers to have been selected from Ireland in three years to compete at the championships which take place in Florida from November 14 to 16.

It is a huge boost for the club and their coach Elaine Ryan, who travels from Co Clare to work with the club.

The boys have been training every day in preparation for the championships, with three hours each session, and now, after years of dedication, are set to fulfill their dreams of representing Ireland in the biggest competition for this non Olympic sport. Tumbling involves performing eight elements of flipping and somersaulting at high speed down a 25m sprung track.

The boys can be seen in action in their training video which can be found on the Renmore Gymnastics Club Facebook page or on YouTube by searching Ad Altiora tumbling.
