AIDAN KILLIAN, the Irish comedian who recently performed his show Jesus v Buddha at the Edinburgh Fringe, is coming to Galway to give a comedy performance with a difference.
Aidan will lead Stand Up For Humanity! a free weekend comedy training workshop for ‘people passionate about a cause’ - and no comedy experience required.
The course takes place in the NUIG Huston School (beside the Centre for Human Rights and across from the Galway Cathedral ). The dates are Friday September 12 (6pm to 9pm ) and Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 (10am to 6pm ). This will be followed by a stand-up comedy gig performed by the participants at the Róisín Dubh, (Monday September 15, 8pm to 10pm ), with all proceeds shared between a number of charities nominated by each of the participants.
“This entire weekend will be one of bringing people together and of course adding comedy to each of our causes,” says Aidan. “I guarantee that anyone can do this. You do not need to be funny, just have something worthwhile to say and we can create the comedy together.”
While the course is free, participants need to be available for the full weekend training and for the Monday night gig. Participants are also asked to sell 10 to 20 tickets for the gig.
Places are limited and early booking is advised. For more information contact the Galway One World Centre via email ([email protected] ) or phone (087 - 2645344 ).
