Fundraising fight fest for Galway kickboxers

The Galway Black Dragon Kickboxing club will host an evening of junior and senior kickboxing, boxing and K-1 in the Menlo Park Hotel on Sunday featuring 20 fighters from Galway taking on opponents from throughout Ireland.

The proceeds of the tournament will go towards sending a team of six fighters from the Galway club to the 2014 Unified World Championships in Marina Di Carrera in Tuscany, Italy, in October.

Current world champ Gary Manogue from Castlepark, Irish and Five Nations champ Charlie Ward from Ballybane, double Irish champ Leona Trautt from Renmore, four-times Irish champ Paul Huish from Knocknacarra, double Irish junior champ Alex Fitzpatrick from Tuam (who also won out this year’s Junior English open ), and four-times junior Irish champ Saoirse Joyce from Knocknacarra will represent Galway and Ireland at the World Games in Italy which are set to attract more than10,000 martial artists from 120 countries over five continents.

Tickets to the tournament in the Menlo Park Hotel are available from the fighters, the Black Dragon Gym, the Menlo Park Hotel Reception or at the door on the day.

Doors open at 3.30pm with the first fight scheduled for 4pm and there will be a full bar facility and free finger food available for fight fans. For more information contact 087 8119227.
