Galway burlesque artist nominated for award

MISS TURKISH Delight is getting set for Saturday’s Miss Burlesque Ireland competition in the Button Factory in Dublin - the only performer from Galway to reach the final.

Miss Turkish Delight, aka Yeliz Tolga, is originally from Turkey but has been involved in the Irish burlesque scene for the last two and a half years. She started after joining Galway troupe Les Hot Culottes and since then has appeared in The Dirty Circus, the Galway Fringe Festival, and the Dublin Burlesque Festival, as well as on RTÉ.

Yeliz’s act involves burlesque, comedy, narrative, Latin dance, and bellydance. Miss Burlesque Ireland, which is in its first year, requires each contestant to prepare three acts in classic, neo and unique categories and take part in a gown parade.

“This last nine months has been an absolute rollercoaster,” says Yeliz. “I am so happy and excited to represent Galway and its burlesque community in this competition. I have many great friends here in Galway, who is helping me with various aspects of this competition.”
