Galway County Council can make a difference, says Finnerty

Galway County Council "can make a difference" for South Galway and rural Ireland, that is according to Fianna Fáil councillor Gerry Finnerty.

Speaking following his re-election at the count centre in NUI Galway this afternoon, Cllr Finnerty thanked his support team, the people who voted for him in the Loughrea electoral area, and the whole Fianna Fáil organisation of South Galway.

Outlining his priorities over the next five years, Cllr Finnerty vowed to work with the council and the Office of Public Works to find a solution to the serious issue of flooding. Cllr Finnerty added that he would work hard to address other issues such as schools losing teachers, GAA clubs under threat, and emigration.

Cllr Finnerty was elected in the third count of the Loughrea electoral area receiving 13 transfers to bring him over the finish line with 1,812 votes, a surplus of six votes over the quota.
