Casey wins again

John Greaney of Galway City Harriers was forced into third place in the second of the six-race County Galway 5km series race held in Loughrea.

Greaney, winner of last weekend's opener, followed winner Peter O'Sullivan of host club Loughrea and a fast-finishing Conor Dolan, also of GCH, across the finish line.

Regina Casey of GCH made it two from two in the ladies' event - winning in a faster time than the previous week. Caroline Whiriskey, on home turf, running for Loughrea AC, took second place after a great battle with Jane Ann Meehan of Athenry.

The third race in the series takes place on a new course in Maree, near Oranmore this week.
