Free seminar on obtaining international quality stanard

Ballybane Enterprise Centre will host a free seminar on the opportunities for SMEs for accelerated business growth with ISO Certification on Thursday May 8.

The seminar will provide a broad overview of the international quality and standards frameworks, and provide participants with an understanding of the steps in the certification process. Participants will also learn about sponsored training programmes which provide opportunities for certification at nominal cost.

The evening seminar and workshop will be delivered by Declan O’Connor, chief executive and director of certification of Business Quality Assurance International.

Based in Clarinbridge, BQAI is an accredited management system certification body focussed on business improvement, sustainability and performance. It has recently become the first and only Irish certification body to be approved by the Irish National Accreditation Board for delivery of ISO certification to medical device companies.

According to Mr O’Connor, many indigenous SMEs avoid ISO registration and the certification process in the belief that it is laborious and overly bureaucratic.

“People have a perception that gaining certification is onerous and paper driven,” says Mr O’Connor, who established BQAI in 2001 to provide SMEs with higher value assessment opportunities to compete in a global marketplace.

“The seminar aims to show attendees a clear pathway through the certification process and outline the increased business opportunities that can open up for a business upon acquiring the relevant quality and standards certification.”

The seminar will commence at 7.30pm. Attendance is free, but registration is required. Contact Michael or Noirin 091-386 004.
