Join the Magpies - the west’s only Aussie Rules team

Galway Magpies, the only Aussie Rules team in Connacht, is looking for new players ahead of a busy season which includes hosting the ARFLI Province of Origin competition in Galway.

The club is looking to attract new players who are interested in trying something new to stay fit, with an emphasis on participation, enjoyment and socialising over the summer months. All levels of fitness and skill are welcome.

This year the club will host the Province of Origin competition in September when Leinster, Ulster, Munster and Connacht compete against each other in a weekend tournament.

The Magpies will also host the Jim Stynes medal which is given to the best player in the league, won last year by Magpies' captain John O'Regan.

O’Regan heads to Australia in August to captain the Irish national Aussie Rules team in the international cup against 16 other nations

The Irish national team, currently world and European champions, will also play in a 9-a-side tournament in London in September

The local club has grown in the last five years with some 60 players lining out for the team.
