The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra @ Róisín Dubh

NAMED AFTER the Hollywood actor who has the enviable distinction of having been hubby to Jennifer Aniston and now Angelina Jolie, The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra play Galway this weekend.

The seven piece group play the Róisín Dubh this Sunday at 9pm. Their music is a blend of warm vocal harmonies, classy instrumentation, and ear-catching melodies that deftly avoids easy categorisation.

“That said, if you’re the kind of person who tends to categorise things, think Divine Comedy with Aimee Mann slippers and Tom Waits' complexion,” says band member David Blake.

The BPLO are siblings Ann, David, and James Blake (vocals and guitar ), Galwegian Tom Howley (piano ), Stephen Childs (violin ), Brian O’Grady (bass ), and Paul Lally (drums ). Their EPs Fireside Chat and Small Contradictions have met with positive reviews and the album Lowering The Tone is set for a release in the autumn.

Admission is free. Go to www.bplo.org and www.myspace.com/bplo
