Ahead of their UK album release and tour, the nation's most intrepid sonic stevedores will be delivering their own brand of inimitable electro-punk at the Róisín on January 23.

Formed in 2006 and hailing from Dublin, Fight Like Apes are made up of lead singer Mary-Kate ‘MayKay’ Geraghty, keyboardist Jamie ‘Pockets’ Fox, bassist Conor Garry, and Lee Boylan on drums.

FLA have seen success across Ireland, the UK, the US, and Japan, and have released two EPs and two albums to date, playing support for major international acts such as The Ting Tings, The Pordigy, and Kasabian.

Their first album, Fight Like Apes and the Mystery of the Golden Medallion, brought them to public attention in 2008, earning a Choice Music Prize nomination. Their second album The Body of Christ and the Legs of Tina Turner, released in 2010, also received plenty of airtime, particularly the track ‘Jenny Kelly’.

2014 should prove to be an exciting year for the band with a new album in the works and some exciting live gigs coming up. The new album was made possible after the success of their Fund It campaign to raise the necessary funds.

Fight Like Apes play Strange Brew at the Róisín Dubh with support from Darling on the night. Tickets are €12 and are available at www.roisindubh.net
