Two hurling crowns provide highlight for Rahoon Newcastle

The double victories at Minor B and U-21 B were highlighted as the success story of the year at the AGM of the Rahoon Newcastle hurling club which took place on Sunday.

The city club, which will celebrate its 125th anniversary next year, saw unprecedented success this year, claiming two championship crowns.

The 2013 and re-elected chairman Tony Regan said the club played a positive role in the parish of Rahoon.

“We are a small club in a big city, our vision for the future is to nurture a love of hurling in our juvenile members and to continue on from the success of our minor and u-21 teams across our junior and intermediate squads.

“It has been a super year with club players representing their club and county and also having two referees in John Keane and Alan Kelly representing the club at county and national level.”

Martin Joe Flaherty remains as treasurer, Tony Regan as chairman, and Lisa Regan as secretary and PRO. Juvenile chairman and Rahoon stalwart Sean Heffernan was elected as intermediate manager for 2014.
