Galway City Community Forum to celebrate the city’s community and voluntary sector

Galway City Community Forum will celebrate the work of the community and voluntary sector in Galway at its last quarterly meeting of the year next week.

City manager Brendan McGrath will speak at the event on his vision for Galway, with particular reference to communities, community participation, and ensuring the inclusion of the most disadvantaged communities in the city. Galway city councillors and community activists will also speak on the same theme.

The meeting will also be addressed by Dr Chris McInerney of the University of Limerick, who will outline possibilities for Galway city in the context of the reform of local government.

The event will take place on Tuesday December 3 in the Harbour Hotel from 6.30pm.

Refreshments will be available from 6.30pm and the event will finish with a seasonal reception of mince pies and mulled wine.

The event will also mark International Day for People with Disabilities.

The meeting is open to all GCCF members and interested parties. GCCF representatives as well as representatives from member groups are encouraged to attend.

Parking will be free at the hotel on the night but people are advised to arrive early as parking spaces are limited. Anyone with transport issues can contact [email protected] to arrange transport if necessary.
