Two Galway gigs from Louis Stewart

LOUIS STEWART, Ireland’s jazz guitar genius, will play two shows in County Galway this weekend, in the company of Honor Heffernan and Jim Doherty.

The trio will play Johnston’s Hall, Kinvara, this Saturday at 8pm, while on Sunday at 8pm they play Campbell’s Tavern, Cloughanover.

Louis Stewart began his international career in 1968 when he was awarded the special jury prize at The Montreaux International Jazz Festival. Shortly after he began working with Benny Goodman and later saxophonist/flautist Tubby Hayes. He has also worked with George Shearing, Niels-Henning Orsted-Pedersen, Robert Farnon, Joe Williams, and Eileen Farrel.

Honor Heffernan has been performing as a singer and actress for some 30 years and has earned a reputation as Ireland’s leading jazz vocalist. Pianist Jim Doherty has composed many familiar RTÉ title tunes over the past decades. He was also musical director of The Late Late Show .
