Connemara Pony Festival continues this weekend

The Connemara Pony Festival, now in its 90th year, continues this weekend in Clifden, including a world record attempt by equestrian Susan Oakes.

The Connemara Pony Showdown, an evening of music and dancing, takes place tonight from 9pm in the Station House Hotel, Clifden.

Tomorrow from 9am sees the Connemara Pony performance Show in the Clifden Showgrounds. The day will feature a puissance competition; working hunter classes; the Clifden High Performance Final; carriage driving display; and a parade of champions; while Susan Oakes will attempt to set a world record jumping the puissance wall side saddle. Admission is €10/5 with those under 12 free.

The festival’s 90th anniversary celebration will be held at 8pm in The Station House Courtyard, with live music and food.

The Connemara Pony Sales takes place at Clifden Mart from 10am on Saturday. There will be a catalogue of 525 Connemara ponies. To download the catalogue see www.connemara ponysales.com
