Wear your flip flops for world record attempt

SERVE, a volunteering and international development organisation, is looking for more than 400 ‘flip-floppers’ to take part in a race in an attempt to create a new world record.

The official Guinness World Record attempt for the most people running in flip-flops for 1km will take place on September 1 at 11am at the Claddagh Hall.

The even is being organised by SERVE, which is based in Cork, Galway, and Belfast, and is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. SERVE works with local charities based in Asia, South America, and Southern Africa. It has sent more than 700 volunteers from Ireland to be involved in different programmes over the past 10 years.

In order to break the world record SERVE needs at least 400 participants ready and willing to flip flop their way to the finish line. The event forms part of the anniversary celebrations and is not a fundraiser. Registrations are free and open to everyone.

All participants must register in advance by going to www.serve.ie or visit the Facebook Page titled 'Flip Flop Race Galway World Record Attempt' for registration details. Participants can also contact 021 4358800, ext 204, for any registrations and queries.
