Ignite celebrates five years of community gospel with concert

Galway’s leading gospel choir, Ignite Gospel Choir are celebrating five years of community gospel singing with their first ever concert in St. Joseph’s Church, Presentation Road, Galway on Friday August 30.

Founded by Galway native Keara Sheeran, Ignite Gospel Choir are a 50 strong chorus of singers who perform every second Sunday at Mass in St Joseph’s Church.

The choir have earned a reputation over the past five years for their community involvement and have raised funds for a variety of charities including the ‘Sunni Mae’ trust where they participated in the recording of Tiny Dancer.

Ignite Gospel Choir are currently preparing for their performance as the ‘Nuns Chorus’ in the Brian and Sean Powers Twin Productions staging of the well loved musical The Sound of Music which opens in the Town Hall Theatre Galway on Wednesday next August 14.

Musical director Keara Sheeran says the choir are really looking forward to their concert performance on August 30.

“We are rehearsing every week and the excitement and energy from choir members is contagious. We’ve prepared a lovely programme featuring many well known favourites including Higher and Higher, Bob Marley's One Love and Fix You by Cold Play,” she said.
