Art exhibitions in the city

GROUP AND solo exhibitions, paintings and sculptures, will all be on show in the latest exhibitions to open in Galway city.

Shrunken Head, a group exhibition featuring Paddy D’Arcy, Gerry Davis, Tim O’Neil, and Matthew Quain, opens in the Niland Gallery, Merchants Road, tomorrow at 7pm.

The artists, working in a variety of media and themes, are concerned with the idea of questioning established belief systems and notions of perception.

Shrunken Head runs until July 27 between 12 noon and 5pm.

Also opening tomorrow at 7pm is Rosemary Fallon’s new solo exhibition at Galway Bay Galleries, 63 Lower Dominick Street.

Rosemary is an artist, teacher, doll-maker, designer, animator, and lecturer. For this show she will exhibit her vibrant oil paintings; miniature metal sculptures made from objects from her father’s workshop from his life-time of junk collecting; and custom made dolls.

Lynda Cookson’s latest works will be on show in the Athy Suite, Radisson Blu Hotel, between Wednesday July 17 and 23, from 9.30am to 6pm, with a cheese and wine reception at 3pm on Saturday July 20.

Lynda concentrates on capturing the living energy of her subjects, which include the flowers, fauna and landscape of her home in Connemara and depictions of horses.

Lynda will also be teaching private and group painting classes during the exhibition. To book phone 086 - 3489888 or email [email protected]
