Moycullen actress lands lead role in new Irish film

Moycullen actress Emma Eliza Regan has been cast in the lead role for a major new Irish film which is to be shot in County Kerry.

Darkness on the Edge of Town, a tense, bullet-ridden, revenge drama will see Emma play Cleo Callahan a troubled teenage sharpshooter striving to avenge the death of her estranged sister after she is found murdered.

The film script has already received international acclaim; winning the BBC Writersroom 2012 award and the Screenwriting Goldmine, while writer/director Patrick Ryan won the final pitching session of ENGAGE V in Tallinn.

Emma Eliza Regan first came to attention with performance as Mollser in O’Casey’s The Plough and The Stars in The Abbey Theatre. She has since appeared in TV3’s Jack Taylor: Dramatist. She will also be seen in as Alice in Colin Downey’s dark fantasy film The Shadows, which will reach cinema screens this year. She also features in the short film Out There, which has been selected to play at Cannes Film Fesival in May
