An Estonian/Irish fusion

LINKS BETWEEN Irish and Estonian traditional music will be explored at a concert in Johnston’s Hall, Kinvara, this Saturday at 9pm.

The concert is by the band From Viljandi to Kinvara, which brings Irish musicians Mick O’Brien (pipes, flute, whistles ) and Dave Flynn (guitar, mandolin, vocals ) together with Estonian musicians Juhan Suits (Estonian bagpipes, wooden horn, whistle, Jew’s harp ) and Janne Suits (bowed lyre, fiddle, vocals ).

O’Brien and Flynn travelled to Estonia in February to develop a shared repertoire with Estonian colleagues and find inspiration for a new collaborative composition. This new work will form the centrepiece of the concert alongside new arrangements created by the four musicians.

Admission €12/10.
