‘Midnight at the Oasis’ singer to play Galway

MOST SINGERS are lucky to make it beyond a handful of gigs, a few more are lucky to get something recorded. Only a handful get to sing a song that becomes a classic.
In 1974 Maria Muldaur scored a Top 10 US hit with ‘Midnight at the Oasis’. It went on to receive several Grammy nominations and has rarely been out of public earshot, featuring on the soundtracks to Lost In Translation, American Pie, Gilmore Girls, and The Wire.
However there is more to Muldaur than that song. Her 40 plus year career has seen her explore pop, American roots, blues, bluegrass, gospel, and Appalachian music.
Her critically acclaimed 2001 release Richland Woman Blues was nominated for a Grammy and named Best Traditional Blues Album of the Year. Her 2008 release, Yes We Can! featured socially conscious songs by Bob Dylan, Marvin Gaye, and Allen Toussaint; while in 2009, Maria Muldaur & Her Garden of Joy, earned the singer her sixth Grammy nomination and Best Traditional Blues Album of the Year in the Blues Foundation Awards.
