President Higgins celebrates Irish culture with Druid and Tom Murphy

DRUID THEATRE’S Garry Hynes, Marie Mullen, along with playwright Tom Murphy, were among those who joined Uachtarán na hÉireann Michael D Higgins in Áras an Uachtaráin over St Patrick’s weekend.
Druid, along with other leading Irish writers, musicians, and singers, joined the President for a celebration of Irish culture, Glaoch – The President’s Call, which was broadcast worldwide on St Patrick’s Day and is now available for viewing on the RTÉ Player.
This week, rehearsals got underway for Druid’s award-winning productions of DruidMurphy: Conversations on a Homecoming and A Whistle in the Dark, which return to the Town Hall Theatre on April 12 for a run of 10 performances.
Winner of Best Production at The Irish Times Theatre awards, DruidMurphy will present the work of one of Ireland’s greatest living playwrights, performed by a cast of 10 including Marie Mullen and Maelíosa Stafford, and directed by Garry Hynes.
DruidMurphy: Conversations on a Homecoming and A Whistle in the Dark will run at the Town Hall Theatre from April 12 to 20. A special combination ticket offer is available to see both plays.
